Player By Player Analysis / Barton Elite Event Breakdown

Our Sunday elite sessions at the Barton Football Academy have started and the invite only events have become the place to be for all of the Northwest’s top athletes to train. The goal of this two hour session is to provide an environment where the top kids can compete against one another, getting a ton reps against the best competition imaginable.

Its only January and all we can say is Wow! As stated before this is prep time for our NEI/Barton Camp and Combine Tour that we will be hosting in the Spring and Summer, as we travel to 12 different Northwest cities. Here is a player by player breakdown of who was in attendance.

The Barton Football Academy has produced countless Division 1 and NFL athletes over the years and we are sure that this group will have a few in it as well

Deshawn Stephens- 6-3 190 WR/FS Putnam.. One of the best WR’s on the West Coast, #1 Jr wide out in Oregon..30 + Tds last season, Will go most anywhere he wants if he can maintain his grades..Just a phenomenal athlete, Chip Kelly could have him be a Darron Thomas/ Dennis Dixon type QB if he wanted. Army All American Nominee

Tanner Shipley- 6-2 185 ATH/S Wilsonville.. Will be one of the best players in the state and should tear up the 5a classification level..NFL Genes, went for 1000 yards on the ground in just over half a season and one of the state leaders in picks, currently ranked #15 overall recruit on Top 160..D1 Kid

Andrew Kirkland- 6-5 295 OL Jesuit..One of the best lineman in the Western Region, ranked as one of the top 10 recruits in Oregon, Portland St offer in hand, 1st Team Army All American Combine selection..The kid just keeps getting better and will have scholarship offers from most Pac 12 schools before he is done.

Justin Adams- 6-7 210 QB Sandy..Currently Oregon’s #1 ranked Jr QB, 1st team all league, 3 sport athlete that has taken over in (Football, Basketball, Baseball). One of the best baseball players in the region, and is averaging 3-4 dunks a game on the hardwood.3.97 student, 5 AP classes..Special special kid. We will be doing a feature piece on him soon, just getting better and is super dangerous being coached by Greg and Taylor Barton.

Bruce Jones Jr- 5-11 180 RB/CB Sunset.. The kid will be a 16 year old senior and has all the talent in the world. Should be the featured back in Faustin Riley’s system and be one of the state’s best. Projects as a Division 1 defensive back or wherever you want to put him.

Johnny Ragin 6-3 210 FB/LB Wilsonville..All League on both sides of the ball, just a big kid that can run, catch, or lay you out. Army All American Nominee, The question of the day when you see Johnny from onlookers is , “Who is that kid?” Over and over again…

Kolney Cassel 6-2 205 QB Eisenhower WA..Ranked the #3 QB IN Washington with a huge upside, Conference Player of the Year that torched opponents as a junior, Phenomenal work ethic that is an outstanding hooper as well. Army All American Nominee that lives and breathes football

Lawrence Wilson 6-4 210 WR Central Catholic.. This is a kid to watch, could be one of the best WR’s in Oregon with legit size and good speed. 6 Td’s as a Jr averaging over 20 yards a catch..Will be shooting up the rankings when updated shortly, 4.2 student that will have his school paid for somewhere…Yes I said 4.2

Nate Halverson 5-11 175 CB/SB Grant..Maybe the top lock down corner in Oregon who will be just as dangerous on the Offensive side of the ball, 1st team all league, 2nd team all state as a junior..Army All American Nominee that is one of the best kids you will ever come across

Richard Ramsey 5-11 180 RB Jefferson..One of the Top RB’s in Oregon, ranked in the top 5 state wide, All league for the last two seasons..PIL Player of the Year Candidate that has the tools to do big things at the next level if he can stay healthy and keep his grades up.

Jordan Morgan 6-2 185 WR/S Southridge (2014)…#1 ranked sophomore receiver in Oregon that will play D1 ball somewhere, scored multiple Tds on both sides of the ball..Testing is off the charts as he recently went to a combine in Texas and earned MVP honors by position. Potential state champion on the Track

PJ Smith 6-2 250 OL/DL/TE Lincoln.. The kid has really grown into his body and is just getting better. Can play multiple positions and should be one of the best lineman in the PIL

Johnny Williams 6-3 190 QB Lincon.. You can expect a big year from Williams who was an all league kid as a junior and projects to a high end academic school..The IVY league schools will be knocking at his door as we expect him to be an even better version of his talented brother Peter.

Forrest Russell 5-7 150 ATH Skyview WA.. One of the 30 best players in Washington. Projects as a slot at the next level, get him in the open field and he will break ankles.. Phenomenal work ethic and all league last season helping to lead his team to a state title appearance. Kids a coaches dream..

Perry Groves 6-3 210 LB Mcnary (2014)..Some of you may remember brother JD Groves who as an Oregon Player of the Year about a decade ago that went to UCLA. The kid has size and speed and was one of the conference leaders in tackles as a sophomore. Currently ranked our #7 athlete in Oregon for the Sophomore class and one of the top linebackers in the western region.

Tanner Davies 6-3 275 OL/DL Sheldon (2014)… Big time talent that played as a sophomore, double digit Pancake blocks on the season and will be looked upon as the leader of the line moving forward. The Irish will reload and still be one of the state’s best, ranked as one of the top 25 sophomores in Oregon for the Sophomore class

Ryan Hendry 6-2 190 SB/S Sunset..10 + Tds as a junior and one the Metro League leaders in Interceptions, just a very good athlete that earned all conference honors last season. Look for him and Jones Jr to be lethal in Riley’s system.

Landon Martinez 5-11 180 QB Oregon City..A kid everyone wants on there team, currently a senior that will be a pleasant surprise for some school. 30 Tds/5 Ints leading his team to a state quarterfinal appearance in what turned out to be a very impressive turnaround under first year coach Strasser

Malcom Lewis 6-0 290 OL/DL Westview.. Look for this kid to tear up the Metro League defensively. Testing is outstanding and could project as high as the D1aa level if he stays healthy. Undersized lineman that can cause fits on D. Under the radar to an extent

Kyrell Bishop 5-10 185 ATH Grant..1st team all league Utility as a junior, multi talented kid that should be a key factor on the 2012 generals..Look for him to be a leader on D teaming with Halverson, Peak Jr, and Cordell Harris to give Grant a solid perimeter.

Beau Duronslet 6-0 190 WR/DB Central Catholic..One of the best overall athletes in the state that is currently ranked the #21 recruit in Oregon for the 2013 class. Coach Pyne calls him ” the best athlete on the field at most times” earning all league honors for the last two seasons. POY candidate next season.

Jon Kenion 6-3 240 DE/C Clackamas.. All league on both sides of the ball, outstanding student that will be looking to help the Cavaliers turn the program around in 2012..Comes ofF the end hard and is willing to work, will be one of the better D ends in Oregon.

Jacob Iverson 6-2 175 WR/DB Clackamas.. Another kid that earned all league honors on both sides of the ball, and was one of the conference leaders in Ints. Iverson, Kenion, and Douglas are a dangerous trio that all standout in the classroom so Clack could have a solid nucleus to build around.

Erick Douglas 5-9 165 WR Clackamas…1st team all league WR on a team that went 2-8 all the more exemplifying how much respect the coaches in the conference had for him. Undersized kid, but super quick and shifty.

Manu Rasmussen 6-0 160 SB/S Tigard (2014)..Ranked as one of the top 20 kids in Oregon for the Sophomore class and could be a Player of the Year Candidate for the Pacific Conference and the State of Oregon when he is a senior.Just a very talented kid that will continue to grow. 30+ Tds as a freshman, 7 Tds as a soph, started on defense on very talented Tigard team

Jake Biglow 5-11 225 TE/LB Tigard (2014).. “Bam Bam” Biglow is legit..Its fun to see a kid his size move with such grace, and I cant tell you how much fun I am going to have saying this kids name over the next couple seasons. All league on both sides of the ball with multiple Td games receiving. Will be part of a special sophomore class at Tigard

Brad Smith 6-4 210 DE Reynolds (2014).. One of the conference leaders in tackles and has legit size. All league as a sophomore on what looks to be a much improved Reynolds team in the coming years. Smith could be a difference maker as he’s big and athletic.

Marcus McGovern 6-0 200 LB Sheldon (2014).. One of the top young linebackers at a Sheldon program that just continues to reload year after year. Will have big shoes to fill with the Departure Dawson Housley and Tanner Zent and he will be the leader.

Isaiah Jones 5-7 180 RB Roosevelt.. Currently a senior that was one of the state leaders in Tds..1st team all league back that is looking to find a home at the next level. Head Coach Christian Swain swears by his ability and says he can play and do well at the next level.

Cade Smith 6-0 170 QB West Salem (2015).. Brother of former West Salem star and Wyoming starting QB Brett Smith, Probably the best Freshman QB in Oregon with a huge upside. Smith training with Barton could prove crucial moving forward. The best player with the best coach..U can do the math.

Kimane Domena 6-2 185 Roosevelt(2015).. Named an Honorable Mention Freshman All American by Max Preps this past season at free safety, one of the state leaders in Ints (6) and could have an amazing career under one of the state’s young coaches in Swain.

Ryan Brown 6-6 260 OL Jesuit… Will be part of one of the top lines in the country in 2012, missed entire junior season with an injury but has legit size and could do big things moving forward. Work ethic is outstanding and is fundamentally sound.

Sam Stelk 6-6 230 QB/DE Tigard.. All conference D End that is an outstanding overall athlete, one of the leading scorers on the basketball team, projects as a D lineman/ TE at the next level, but could be Tigard’s starting QB

AJ Woodin 5-11 190 QB Southridge (2014).. One of the better young QB’s in Oregon training with Barton from a very young age.. Consistently just wins games, 32 Tds/4 Ints JV but will be on the same team with one of the state’s best QB’s in Reza Aleaziz

Ridge Harmon 6-0 165 WR Eisenhower.. One of the top Soph WR’s in Washington , ranked on our Top 65 soph’s for Washington..Multiple Tds last season and could have a monster year with Cassel airing it out between him and Pati

Connor Neville 6-0 165 QB 7th Grade..” The Example” is nothing short of outstanding. If he continues at the pace that he is on he could conceivably be one of the best QB’s in Oregon at a very young age. Both him and his brother Johnny have an incredibly bright future.

Garrett Hitner 6-1 175 WR/DB Mcnary (2014).. Ranked the #30 overall recruit in Oregon for the sophomore class, statistically one of the best DB’s in the state and should be part of a very much improved McNary football team.

Joe Labatto 6- 3 210 LB Tigard (2014).. Another very talented sophomore with legit size. He didn’t get a ton of Varsity time last season, but look for him to play a big role in 2012. Ranked on our Top 65 list for the 2014 class

Blake Robison 6-1 170 WR Sandy..Could be one of the state leaders in multiple receiving categories as Adams primary target. Numbers could be ridiculous in 2012 as Sandy will air it out all day with the guidance of legendary coach Greg Barton

Taylor Smith 6-1 190 ATH Central Catholic..Looked very impressive on film and got some valuable experience starting last season (34 total tackles). Should be very valuable to a talented CC group

Jett Even 6-3 180 QB Tigard (2014).. Football family, will be battling for starting QB spot with Sam Stelk on run oriented Tigard team

Eli Skiles 5-9 170 WR/CB Putnam.. Multiple Tds as a junior, could have big year with Stephens being double teamed and Bailey having two primary targets to get the ball to

Max Bailey 6-1 175 QB Putnam.. Had an outstanding year before injury last season.. Will be under the guidance of one of the State’s best coaches in Brad Lewman. Look for Putnam to have a big year

James Buchanan 6-0 165 ATH Roosevelt.. Under the radar athlete that could do big things moving forward into to 2012
