NFL Genes- Talented Union Frosh QB Nolan Henry

Even though he’ll only be a sophomore this fall, Union (Vancouver) QB Nolan Henry has already displayed the leadership and talent necessary to lead what will likely be one of the contenders for the state title in the coming years. Henry has attended several Barton camps and last weekend hit his second combine in a row, as he took part in drills, one-on-ones, and seven-on-sevens at the Kiggins bowl.

"We love to get out and compete," Henry told Northwest Elite Index shortly after the workout. "It’s fun to get out here, get some coaching and also just to have fun and compete. We are all out here doing that."

Henry comes from great bloodlines, his cousin is former Oregon and current St. Louis Rams QB Kellen Clemens, and already has a nice frame for an underclassman — 6’0", 175 pounds — and since he’s been at Barton camps since he was a grade-schooler he already possesses solid fundamentals.

"Kellen got me interested in the Barton stuff really early," Henry admitted. "I’ve been out here since I was in second grade, so I’m pretty comfortable with what Taylor asks us to do and his coaching. It’s been really valuable to me."

The Union 2015 class, players who will be sophomores this fall, is loaded with talented athletes and some, including Henry could be making heavy contributions to the Titans this fall. Tate Nelson is a talented offensive line prospect and will likely be manning one of the tackle positions along the line this fall, while LB/FB/RB Alex Berfanger and DB/RB/LB Caleb Browning are players who will get reps as the season moves along.

"We’re all good friends and we all want to help our team any way that we can," Henry noted. "We think we have a chance to do some special things in the coming years, but obviously a lot depends on how we develop and how our team comes together since it’s a team game, not just about individual stuff."

Since Henry is a proverbial "recruiting baby", at this point he hasn’t really heard much in the way of recruiting, but with a big sophomore season, you could see his name start to pop up on recruiting radars next spring. He could end up being one of the top signal-callers in the state with continued growth and development.
