Fed Way’s Mike Tate Still Hot After Montana, PSU Offer- VIDEO

(Mike Tate 6-1 175 Jr. WR) Federal Way

One of the northwest’s top receivers, Mike Tate (6-1 175 WR) comes into senior season at Federal Way absolutely on fire, and he is showing no signs of letting up. Tate recently racked up offers from Montana and Portland St while MVP ing the recent Northwest Elite Combine.

Mike recently showed up at our NEI/Barton Regional Combine in Vancouver, and made some incredible catches while being named a positional MVP at our event as well. Tate was part of our NEI (North) Team that traveled with us to Las Vegas for the National 7 on 7 tournament in March. His performance there let everybody know that he could play with some of the best receivers in the country.

Tate returns to Fed Way after earning 1st Team All City honors, and 2nd Team All SPSL Honors over the last two seasons. His 4.48 hand time (40 yard dash), 11.1 100 meters, and 35 inch vertical make him a very intriguing prospect, and someone both Montana and PSU didn’t want to let get away. A few weeks back Mike gave us a call and said, " Montana Offered" . Not much more then an hour later Tate text and said Portland St had offered.

Give credit to both coaching staffs for recognizing what Tate brings to the table. He is an outstanding athlete both on the football field and on the track, and an even better character kid.

This years Federal Way team brings back one of the deepest perimeters in the entire northwest. The Eagles return a "filthy" group of athletes after a (10-1) season in 2011. It will come down to line play and if some of the younger guys can step up. One of Washington’s top linebackers Albert Havilli (6-3 240 Jr. OL/LB) is the only returning lineman, and the rest of the up front cast is yet to be determined.

Tate’s a kid right on the fence of getting his first major D1 offer, and its now very feasible with multiple D1aa’s pulling the trigger. We give credit to Mike and his mother Shawnte who has been a big NEI/Barton supporter. She says, " thank you guys for all you have done for the kids , not just mine…Dreams are coming true because you guys are making sure schools know about them".

We wish Mike and his entire family continued success. Enjoy the video interview of Mike while at our Regional Combine at the Kiggins Bowl in Vancouver.
