Oregon Week 5 Predictions: By Jordan Johnson

6A TOP 10

#1 Sheldon (4-0) @ S.Medford (3-1) – It might be the toughest conference game of the Irish season, but I don’t know how close it will be. They shut down the city for last season’s contest but I think S.Medford may have trouble staying close. Taylor Alie has played very well, and C Strahm is ridiculous. (SHEL 47 S MED 21)

#2 Jesuit (3-1) @ Sunset (3-1) – Sunset proved they could play with anybody last week losing to Aloha 13-8..Jesuit played terrible and will learn from last weeks loss. I expect the Crusaders to take out some aggression on a good Sunset team, that could actually make a run come playoff time. (JES 34 SUN 14)

#3 Lake Oswego (3-1) @ West Linn (2-2) – The loss of Evan Voeller hurts, and West Linn will need a lot of their young talent to step up. Lake O QB Justen Ruppe being lost to injury hurts as he was playing very well. Lake O’s D is sick and will pose problems for almost everyone, look for the Lakers to bring the pressure against talented Jr QB Hayden Coppedge of WL. (LO 35 WL 14)

#4 Aloha (4-0) @ Westview (2-2) – The Warriors are ridiculously talented with two of the top players in the country on their roster in Thomas Tyner and Brayden Kearsley. That said they can be kind of schizophrenic and make games close sometimes. Westview should not pose a problem, but the 63 scored by Lakeridge and the close ball game against Sunset raises questions. (ALO 47 WESTV 15)

#5 Central Catholic (2-2) @ Reynolds (3-1) – CC showed that they can beat anybody last week, with its impressive win over Jesuit. They have as good a shot as anybody to win a title, but have to cut out the mistakes they made against the likes of Sheldon and LO. This game will not be close. (CC 51 REYN 16)

#6 Tigard (3-1) @ McMinnville (3-1) – Mcminnville is a good football team, and returning conference player of the year Spencer Payne is the real deal Holyfield. Last year Tigard new this and absolutely shut him down. Expect for them to be all over Payne once again and make someone else attempt to beat them. (TIG 37 MCM 20)

Forest Grove (0-4) @ #7 Century (3-1) – The state’s top ranked QB will take the night off after suffering a concussion last week. The luxury is in the fact that the Jags have first team all league QB from last season Brad Bennett now playing wide out, who can make the transition for the game. Expect this to be in the bag by half. (CENT 49 FG 13)

Newberg (1-3) @ #8 Tualatin (4-0) – The T Wolves continue to win and look better each week. Jr QB Shroyer is a good system QB and Schlottman and Jeff Williams have done a good job splitting up end zone time. Coach Hastin does a great job..The defense is very talented and the offense is getting better (TUAL 45 NEW 12)

#9 Southridge (1-3) @ Beaverton (4-0) – Just being real here..If im wrong I will happily admit it, but Beaverton has played 4 sub par teams (Mckay, N.Salem, Forest Grove, Reynolds) and barely beat three of them. Southridge has lost close games to #1 Sheldon, #3 Lake Oswego, and #8 Tualatin. Evan Colorito is the real deal, but the Beavers could have a tough Metro League season (SRDG 42 BEAV 14)

#10 West Salem (3-1) @ Lincoln (0-4) – Lincoln is not 0-4 bad, but the Titans are firing on all cylinders and and have a lot of momentum coming off of last weeks come from behind win over a Top 10 Sprague team. Elite Sophomore QB Cade Smith has gotten in a groove, and Coach Stanley has his guys believing and playing very well. They enter our rankings at #10 this week. (WSAL 31 LINC 22)

5A TOP 10

#1 West Albany (4-0) @ #5 Silverton (4-0) – Definitely one of the top games state wide, as Silverton’s D is one of the best in the state and no one has been able to stop the Bulldogs Jake Lacoste. Something’s got to give, so expect fireworks as a very talented and pretty young Silverton team try’s to up end the state’s top 5a team at home. (WALB 24 SILV 20)

#2 Sherwood (4-0) @ Liberty (1-3) – This one will be over by half as Sherwood is always loaded , and will most likely take no one easy after the close win against Hermiston a few weeks back. (SHER 56 LIB 7)

#6 Mt View (2-2) @ #3 Wilsonville (3-1) – Mt view survived a close game against 6a McNary last week after two tough losses to 6a top 10 teams at home. The Wildcats have gotten better each game and now have QB/S Nick Highberger back and healthy, along with one of the most underrated players in the state in Ryan Walsh. Head Coach Adam Guenther has done a great job getting everyone clicking along with D1 athletes Tanner Shipley and Johnny Ragin. (WILSV 38 MT VIEW 28)

Willamettte (1-3) @ #4 Marist (3-1) – Marist is going to drill most of the teams in their conference, and this should be no different. Austin Baird added 4 Tds last week as people have found out that they can’t double him with Josh Harper (9 Tds) on the field. (MARIST 53 WILL 7)

Ashland (2-2) @ #7 Springfield (3-1) – Which Ashland team is going to show up? If its the one that beat up Churchill last week that’s a good thing, as the Miller’s only loss was by 2 to a very talented Silverton team. Springfield went down to Eagle Point last week, and beat a good 5a club 37-23 (SPRING 30 ASH 26)

Dallas (1-3) @ #8 Crescent Valley (2-2) – CV squeaked out a victory against Lebanon last week in what was a closer game then expected. We will see if the Raiders are able to start putting some significant points on the board just as they did in the Putnam game. (CV 35 DALL 13)

Summit (2-2) @ #9 Redmond (4-0) – Redmond has played three 4a teams, so its tough to put a gauge on exactly how talented they are, but they did return 30 seniors and a bunch of all league kids so they should win this handily.(RED 38 SUMM 21)

#10 Wilson (3-1) @ Jefferson (0-4) – Didn’t see this one coming as the Trojans are actually pretty decent, beating a talented 5a Roosevelt team last week. We will see if they can keep it up behind the running of Cory Hincks, who went for over 300+ last week. (WIL 51 JEFF 8)
