Hollister’s Vie for Title

Saturday’s big 5a State Title game in Oregon features #3 Mountain View (11-1) vs #2 Sherwood (13-0). The Cougars have their Bend community excited fresh off a very impressive performance against #1 Marist in last weeks state semi final. We have touched on Mt View’s athletic perimeter that includes Oregon St Commit Joel Skotte and all everything junior John Carroll. Now we turn our attention to maybe the top brother tandem in the Northwest.

Jacob Hollister (6-3 200 Sr QB/FS) and Cody Hollister (6-3 195 Sr WR/SS) have put together two of the most prolific careers in Intermountain Conference history. Coming into this weekend Jacob has managed to earn Offensive Player of the year honors in 2011, while leading his team to a 22-2 overall record over the past two seasons with two conference titles. He has accounted for 3665 yards of passing offense while throwing 58 Tds/ 8 Int’s in 2010 & 11. Its been an impressive run as both him and his brother have helped keep Mountain View atop the 5a clasification level. Jacob is also one of the state leaders in interceptions (5) from his free safety position, so 1st team all league honors were earned on both sides of the ball in multiple years (10-11).

These staggering numbers were matched by none other then his brother Cody who managed to score 33 touchdowns over the last two seasons hauling in 2,162 receiving yards. Both kids have been all league and all state athletes for multiple seasons and are looking for the first state title in school history. Both of their losses have come to Sherwood so they are eager for revenge.

The Hollister’s are two of the highest profile recruits in Oregon without an offer and they look to make a statement on Saturday night. “I’m really proud of our guys and I want to make the most of the opportunity we have created for ourselves”, Jacob says.

Both Hollister’s should be proud of all that they have accomplished. This will be the last high school football game they will ever play so you can bet they show up ready to make Sherwood earn every yard. We will be following both kids recruitment and wish both Jacob and Cody continued success in the state championship and beyond.
