One of the Northwest’s Top LB’s Chooses Oregon: Dawson Housley

In Breaking News another one of the state’s top linebackers, Dawson Housley (6-3 215 Sr. LB), of Sheldon High School in Eugene will take a preferred walk on invitation to play for his hometown Oregon Ducks.

Housley had full ride scholarship offers from D1 Wyoming along with D1AA Portland St and Weber St. Housley was a first team all state linebacker and one of the most fearless backers in the Northwest. Dawson’s decision came after weighing his options carefully but in the end he says, “I’ve grown up wanting to be a duck all my life and its right in my own backyard where my family and friends can see me play”. He continued, ” Coach Alliotti and I have talked and he thinks I can come in and compete for playing time early in my career and potentially earn a scholarship”.

Dawson is one of the hardest hitters in the NW and plays with reckless abandonment. He finished his career at Sheldon as a state player of the year candidate and state leader in multiple statistical categories. Over his career he racked up 245 tackles (10.2 tackles per game), 8.5 sacks, 5 pass deflections, 4 fumble recoveries, 7 caused fumbles, and 3 blocked punts.

Housley is one of NEI’s favorite kids and we look forward to following his college career moving forward. He is another in a long line of Sheldon athletes that we feel fortunate to have covered and built a relationship with over the last two seasons.
