OR’s Top Uncommitted WR Adam Winterling Commits To San Diego

In what ended up being a very tough decision Jesuit star WR Adam Winterling (6-4 200 Sr.) has chosen to play his football at the University of San Diego over Portland State. The rangy wideout had his share of options including full ride offers from the Air Force Academy and Portland St University, but decided he favored the academics and the atmosphere at USD.

“I had to really do some thinking and speak with my family before making my decision” said Winterling. ” Its been a grueling process, but in the end I know that San Diego was the best fit for me”. Adam has told me personally since day one that the academic standards of the school took priority in his decision making process and he held firm to that belief.

Winterling dominated defensive backs on the camp circuit all year long, and was considered the #2 WR in Oregon behind Maximo Espitia Jr. of South Salem who’s headed for California. The fact that he didn’t have additional offers is mind blowing as he may have been the most under recruited kid in the state. He scored double digit Td’s on a team with a running QB and his intangibles were off the charts. He didn’t have 4.4 speed, but anyone that watched him play said..Wow, this kids legit.

Portland St got in the mix late but Winterling felt great about his visit to Southern California and decided that is where he wanted to go. ” The PSU coaching staff was great and I really appreciate the fact that they offered me a full ride, but in the end I think I did what was right for me”.

Adam is a kid that is going to do big things in life, whether its scoring Td’s, studying international business, or flying airplanes which he is equipped to do. We will continue to follow Winterling’s career down south as USD just scored big time with this pick up out of Oregon.
