On Thursday night, Mount Si (Snoqualmie, Wa.) K Cameron Van Winkle reported through social media that he had committed to Washington and Friday morning he confirmed via text that he has indeed made his decision and will sign with the Huskies next February…

Van Winkle announced on his Facebook page that he has committed to Washington and national kicking guru Chris Sailer also made the announcement via twitter regarding the his decision.

"The longest I’ve hit from in a game is 49, but in practice the longest I’ve hit from is 63," Van Winkle told Northwest Elite Index last year. "I barely missed a 57-yarder against Mercer Island, so I have the leg to get it there, but it all depends on how you hit it and I just didn’t get all of it that night."

This past season Van Winkle, who is also a star on the Mount Si soccer team, hit 16 of his 18 field goal attempts while also averaging 37 yards per punt.

"Cameron is simply a great kicker," Sailer said earlier this year. "He is very smooth and extremely consistent off the ground. Has a great leg and gets excellent height on his ball. His kickoffs are D-1 ready and he is also a very talented punter. A big time D-1 all around prospect."

In addition to his heavy interest and offer from Washington, Van Winkle already had an offer from Washington State and was getting heavy interest from Oregon and Cal who had both requested that he attend their camps and kick for them in person.
