Kennedy’s Two Way Threat Cole Madison gets WSU offer

(Cole Madison 6-6 255 TE/DE Sr.) Kennedy

It’s been a while since we’ve checked in on Kennedy Catholic (Burien, Wa.) TE Cole Madison, and a lot has happened over the past month or so as he’s been hitting the camp circuit and recently received his first official offer.

"Washington State offered me after I went to their camp," Madison told Northwest Elite Index. "It was really a great feeling to get that offer in, and know they like me enough to offer. I went there and worked out with the tight ends, but they are looking at me at multiple positions. Depending on how I grow, they could see me at offensive line or even along the defensive line. A lot just depends on how much bigger I get."

At nearly 6’6" and weighing in at just over 265 pounds, Madison is already a beast who loves to block, but he’s got the athleticism and soft hands necessary to be a factor in the passing game as well.

"I love to block, that’s what I do best," Madison said. "Schools are always looking for tight ends that can block and I feel like that’s my best trait. For my size, I have good quickness, but I want to get quicker and stronger this offseason."

In addition to his offer from the Cougars, Madison thinks that Wyoming could be close to extending an offer and he’s getting quite a bit of attention from other schools in the area including Washington, Oregon State, Idaho among others.

As a junior in 2011, Madison was a two-way star for the Lancers totaling over 75 tackles and six sacks from his defensive end position while hauling in 17 receptions for 190 yards and two touchdowns in an offense that relies upon the run much more than the pass.

"You have to be a good blocker in our offense and that’s something I think we all take pride in," Madison said. "We are going to miss guys like Jason (Thompson) because they were great players and leaders, but I think we will have a good team this year and we are all working hard to get back to the playoffs and then see what happens after that."

Madison plans to take in Washington’s Rising Stars camp on June 28th and 29th and will be in attendance at the Barton Elite Showcase on June 30th which will also be at the University of Washington.

We will continue to keep track of Madison in the coming weeks and will update news as it happens with him.
