Central OR Standout QB Jonah Koski to lead Lava Bears

(Oregon Top 5 QB Jonah Koski (6-3 190 Sr.) to lead Bend in 2012)

Central Oregon isn’t just a beautiful place to live, its an area that produces top notch athletes that sometimes go under the radar. Just last year Mt. View of Bend ran the table and won the class 5a state title, behind the likes of Oregon St bound linebacker Joel Skotte and Player of the year Cody Hollister.

There have been some outstanding athletes come through, but each year its always very interesting to see which teams and players out of the rural area shine. This season you will see a very talented QB out of Bend HS, Jonah Koski (6-3 190 Sr QB.), returning after earning second team all league honors last season while throwing for 25 Tds.

Koski is a 4.0 student and ranked as a Top 5 QB in the state of Oregon. His intangibles are through the roof as he also is an All State baseball player, and someone we would consider one of the top duel sport athletes in the state.

The Lava Bears will be in the running for a conference title this season, as Mt View will always be good but do lose a lot. Jonah threw for over 2000 yards with a 53% completion pct. He has the luxury of having Duke DeGaetano returning at RB after he tore up the conference last year going for 1000 all purpose yards and 10 Tds.

Koski made the trip from Bend to Portland during the winter, to attend our NEI/Barton Elite events with all of the top athletes in the northwest. His dedication level is high as Jonah has big dreams, "I want to play QB in college at the highest level possible, and just do whatever I can to help my team win".

You are not going to find a much better kid then Koski, as he has been fortunate to have a strong support system within the family dedicated to serving the lord. His father Steven is a pastor at a local church which has obviously been very rewarding.

Bend isn’t messing around during the preseason as they play very tough competition starting with 5a powerhouse Marist and 6a Conference favorite West Salem. Koski embraces the schedule and says, " it should be fun, we are all excited for the challenges that lie ahead and want to play the best teams that we can".

Koski will have every opportunity necessary to prove his worth to colleges during the season, and has set the tone with an outstanding off season thus far. He is someone you can build a program around and know he will make good decisions on and off the field. Jonah’s a general and is putting in the work now to get the wins later. We look forward to following all of his progress as the Bend Lava Bears look to be one of the top teams in the state at the 5a level.
