One of the top senior offensive linemen in the Pacific Northwest this year, Kings (Seattle) OL Mason Friedline, had plenty of options out on the west coast to choose from, but after he started getting attention from schools in the Ivy League, he decided to take a closer look and recently he decided to he wanted to play for Yale and help build that program back into a champion.

"There were a lot of different things I considered," Friedline told Northwest Elite Index after making his decision. "All of the schools that offered me, I was really excited about and I took it very seriously, but in the end, it was about so much more than football and I wanted the chance to go to an Ivy League school… When I started processing it in my mind, it was an easy decision."

Friedline made his decision earlier this week and said when he spoke to the Yale coaches, they were very excited.

"They were really happy I decided to go there and that I would be playing for them," Friedline said. "They want me out at tackle which is great because that’s what I love to play. In the Pac 12, all of those schools thought I was too short to play tackle, which is crazy because I’m 6’5, but for them they want guys 6’6 or taller".

"That’s what they are looking for an that’s fine, but Yale said I was perfect for tackle with them and that’s what I’ll do when I get there."

Friedline chose Yale over offers from Arizona, Boise State, California, Colorado, Harvard, Washington and Washington State among others.

"The chance to play (at Yale) is just amazing and I’m very excited," Friedline said. "I loved the campus, the coaches there are all great guys and really energetic and young and in the long run, it’s great for my life after football too.

"It’s very exciting for me and for my family and now I can focus on my senior season and getting us to a championship."
