The recruiting process was short and sweet for Mount Si’s (Snoqualmie, WA) Nick Mitchell, Washington’s No. 1 ranked QB for the class of 2014. Mitchell, who was offered by Oregon State University just a few short weeks ago, gave a verbal commitment to Beavers’ coach Mike Riley on Friday, becoming the first commitment of OSU’s 2014 recruiting class.

“It feels great,” Mitchell said. “This has been my dream school from the beginning and it is a great fit.”

Nick will join his older brother Josh, who is currently an offensive lineman for the Beavers.

The trend of QB’s committing early is becoming more popular with each passing year, and Mitchell had his own reasons for following suit.

“I’ve been discussing this with my family for a long time and I wanted to commit early so I could focus on the season ahead.”

Mount Si once again figures to be in the state title picture this fall with Mitchell at the helm. He will look to improve upon an impressive junior campaign that saw him throw for 2,329 yards and 33 TD’s against just 6 INT’s.
