Oregon 6A/5A Top 10 Predictions with Analysis (10/2): By Jordan Johnson

Oregon Predictions

6A Top Ten

#1 Central Catholic (5-0) 56 @ Gresham (1-4) 13

The Rams biggest test will come in the way of making the most out of their Mt Hood conference schedule. They are currently jumping up the national ranks.

#2 Tigard (5-0) 55 @ Tualatin (3-2) 16

Usually a close game, but Tigard should lay the hammer down with their run game as I think they could win the state title. Expect Manu Rasmussen to go off and the starters to play more then one half.

#3 Southridge (4-1) 42 @ Sunset (4-1) 21

The Skyhawks have played better and better every week, and you can expect them to expoit their dominant run game after what Joey Alfieri did to there defense last week.

#4 Sheldon (3-2) 58 @ Crater (0-5) 20

I think the Irish loss to North Medford helped them reevaluate and prepare. Crater is not (0-5) bad, but Yadie Dunmore is coming into his own going for 250+ all purpose last week in the 49-14 win over South Medford.

#5 Jesuit (3-2) 44 @ Westview (4-1) 20

The Wildcats are one of the surprise teams state wide, but they haven’t played elite competition. The Crusaders are a different animal and should make things tough on talented young QB Austin Brisbee.

#6 Clackamas (5-0) 29 @ #8 West Linn (3-2) 30

Probably the toughest game to call state wide as the TRL is as even as its ever been. Daniel Sherrell and Louie Germain are both 2000+ 20 TD backs and this one will be close.

#7 Canby (3-2) 24 @ Lake Oswego (1-4) 25

I’m a big advocate of the Cougars, but I just don’t see the Lakers losing twice in as many weeks after not losing a conference game in a decade. The loss of Sam Bodine will obviously hurt Canby.

Grant (1-4) 20 @ #9 Oregon City (4-1) 43

Grant isn’t a bad football team, but O.C. is just getting better, and I foresee the Pioneers running the ball with success allowing them to open up the pass.

#10 Roseburg (5-0) 26 @ South Medford (1-4) 24

This game could go either way as South Medford is getting healthy and not (1-4) bad. Roseburg had a tough time with South Eugene, which leaves question marks.

5A Top Ten

#1 Sherwood (5-0) 65 @ Parkrose (4-1) 13

Really what do you say. The Bowmen will beat everyone by 50, put another title in the trophy case, and move up to 6A.

#2 West Albany (4-1) 59 @ South Albany (2-3) 6

The Bulldogs got back on track, shutting out a tough Silverton team that was averaging 42.5 pts per game. They accounted for 9 sacks as this one should be over early.

Lebanon (1-4) 7 @ #3 Silverton (4-0) 45

Expect Silverton to score early and often. They will be looking to get the bad taste out of their mouth from last week’s 13-0 loss to West Albany.

#4 Ashland (5-0) 50 @ North Eugene (0-5) 0

The Grizzlies will be done by half and should have their first conference title in some time.

#8 Hermiston (4-1) 28 @ #5 Springfield (3-2) 33

I think the Millers are good and will just get better. Hermiston is equally talented and will present challenges, but sophomore QB Trever Watson is a game changer.

Eagle Point (2-3) 10 @ #6 Marist (3-2) 47

The Spartans will just continue to get better with experience, as they are young and playing better after a couple early losses to #2 West Albany and #4 Ashland.

Corvallis (2-3) 8 @ #7 Crescent Valley (3-2) 51

CV should drill the Spartans as they fought off a tough Dallas team 14-6 last week. Corvallis is down and the Raiders could make a run come playoff time.

#9 Roosevelt (4-1) 54 @ Madison 7

This will be over quickly as the Roughriders have figured things out and are playing well, while Madison has a lot of work to do.

Pendleton (5-0) 21 @ #10 Mountain View (3-0) 34

Pendleton is undefeated but they haven’t played anybody. The Cougars got a big win over Wilsonville last week and should return as RB Keenan Springer went for 160+ and 3 TDs.
