Marqueese Royster Earns Spot On Team USA Roster

One of the Northwest’s Top defensive lineman for the class of 2014 ,Marqueese Royster (6-1 255 So. DL) from Lakeridge, recently received an invite to play for Team USA’s 17 and under squad in Austin, Texas during July.

This was an honor given after Royster traveled to Texas to compete for a spot with 100+ other kids from around the country. As many already know Marqueese comes from one of the most athletic families anywhere in the western region. The NFL and MLB have been a statement within the family.

(Father-PITT, NFL/Europe/Arena, Evan Royster- Washington Redskins, Mazio Royster Dad’s Twin- USC, NFL Tampa Bay, Jacksonvile, Jerry Royster-20 + years in Major League Baseball)

After receiving the selection Royster said, ” I am so humbled to be selected based on my football skills and character, I went up against some fierce and skilled competition that brought the best out of me”. Marqueese continued, “this was an opportunity that I wanted to make the most of, and I am proud and excited to represent the country on a world stage”.

Royster has come to our elite events and caused absolute havoc among bigger lineman,as his strength and quickness have been to much for a lot of bigger guys to handle. Marqueese has been going against guys with 4-5 additional inches and 40 pounds on him and consistently winning battles. Its fun watch as anyone watching NEI TV will verify.

What made the selection even more special was the passing of Royster’s grandmother, ” I know Lynda Royster is smiling down on me right now, as I went there with a heavy heart knowing that as soon as I got back I would be attending her funeral”.

The Royster family is very close and Marqueese where’s his heart on his sleeve. He’s extremely mature for his age and his upside is ridiculous as he will most likely grow a few more inches being that he’s only 15 years old. We continue to see Royster be one of the most focused and hard working athletes at our elite events. He should provide the Pacers with some outstanding leadership on a team that will just be getting better even with the loss of all everything athlete Blake Dutton.

Congrats to Marqueese and the entire family on this achievement.
