6A TOP 10

Crater (3-2) @ #1 Sheldon (5-0) – The Irish will need to stay focused for the remainder of the league season, as no team from the SOC will challenge them. Its important that they prepare each week and treat every game with playoff intensity. (SHEL 44 CRATER 14)

Westview (2-3) @ #2 Jesuit (4-1) – The Crusaders will be with out AJ Glass, but will have one of the top sophomore backs in the NW filling in Chase Morrison. Jesuit is looking to get healthy, while Westview is decent but shouldn’t hang. (JES 42 WESTV 14)

#3 Lake Oswego (5-0) @ Canby (2-3) – Lake O is playing phenomenal and they continue to impress after blasting a West Linn team with some talent last week 41-0. If the Lakers continue this trend they will move up in the polls. The Cougars got an impressive win over a good Oregon City team a week ago, and is finally playing quality football. (LO 35 CANBY 20)

Beaverton (4-1) @ #4 Aloha (5-0) – Beaverton played better then expected last week, but Tyner got some rest against Westview and should be fresh. Look for him to score 3-4 Tds in the first half and for the Warriors to coast. (ALOHA 56 BEAV 13)

Gresham (5-0) @ #5 Central Catholic (3-2) – The Gophers have to hate me as I have continued to pick them to lose, but this will be a different type of challenge. The Rams are playing very good football after a big win against #1 Jesuit and a ridiculously tough non league schedule. (CC 34 GRESH 17)

#8 Tualatin (5-0) @ #6 Tigard (4-1) – Tualatin’s D has stepped up and they have played really well. This is one of the biggest rivalries in the state and it will be a battle once again. I think Tigard is to talented top to bottom and will out pace the T Wolves. (TIG 30 TUAL 16)

#7 Century (4-1) @ Newberg (1-4) – Sam Riddle returns to lead the Jaguars and this will be over by half. Expect Century to drop 50+ and be able to rest some guys for a couple tough games against Tualatin and McMinnville. (CENT 57 NEW 10)

Sunset (3-2) @ #9 Southridge (2-3) – The Apollos have been playing outstanding football with two tough losses to Aloha and Jesuit. This will be one of the toughest games to call of the week , and the Skyhawks will need to show that they can win a big ball game after an unexpected close game to Beaverton. There losses have come to #1 Sheldon, #3 LO, #8 Tualatin. (SRDG 27 SUNSET 24)

#10 West Salem (4-1) @ Mckay (3-2) – Give a lot of credit to Shawn Stanley’s group. The Titans should win out for the remainder of the league season and have no problem with McKay this week if they play up to their potential. (W SAL 41 MCK 17)

5A TOP 10

Parkrose (2-3) @ #1 Sherwood (5-0) – Parkrose isn’t a bad footbal team, but Sherwood will score early and often and should have this put away without much problem. It will be interesting to see if they are overlooking the Broncos for Wilsonville. (SHER 51 PARK 18)

#2 Wilsonville (4-1) @ Milwaukie (4-1) – The Cats are going to have there work cut for them on the road against a much improved Milwaukie team that has two of the state’s 5a best in Kendrick Bourne and Richard Ramsey. Both of whom transferred prior to the season from Benson and Jeff. The trio of Shipley/Ragin/Walsh have been killing people and last weeks 49-33 win over the defending 5a state champs in Mt View was a statement game. (WVILLE 34 MILW 28)

#3 Silverton (5-0) @ Lebanon (2-3) – Silverton is the real deal, and showed that they can play with anybody last week beating #1 West Albany 28-21 at home. Sophomore QB Cole Chandler is the real deal, and RB/LB Chris Garcia is a player of the year candidate on both sides of the ball. (SILV 31 LEB O)

#4 Marist (4-1) @ Eagle Point (3-2) – EP is another decent football team, but expect Marist to very tough as they have crushed everyone since their first regular season loss in four years to Sherwood a few weeks back. Smith is hitting Baird and Harper all day. (MARIST 48 EP 19)

South Albany (2-3) @ #5 West Albany (4-1) – Jake Lacoste still went for 212 on 39 carries and 2 Tds against the state’s best 5a D. The Bulldogs will put this away by half, expect them to cruise. (WALB 54 SALB 13)

#6 Springfield (4-1) @ Marshfield (0-5) – The Millers of Springfield are playing as well right now as they have in the last decade. They beat a decent Ashland team last week 42-20 and should make pretty quick work of the Pirates. (SPRING 56 MARSH 7)

#7 Redmond (5-0) @ Crook County (4-1) – The Cowboys are a good 4a team, but Redmond has a good senior group that is playing very well right now and should be able to put away the kids from Crook County. The Panthers blasted Summit last week, but this is the 4th 4a team they have faced, as they were a 6a team last year 50-0. (RED 34 CC 21)

#8 Mt View (2-3) @ Pendleton (1-4) – The Cougars have played the toughest 5a schedule in the state, and have battled. The returning 5a champs should be able to handle Pendleton who got throttled by 4a Baker a week ago. (MV 45 PEND 27)

#9 Hermiston (2-2) @ Southridge WA (4-1) – Hermiston’s a pretty good 5a team, and they beat up Bend last week 36-6 after barely losing to #1 Sherwood. That said Southridge is good and this will be a very close ball game. (SRDG 28 HERM 27)

#10 Crescent Valley (3-2) @ Corvallis – Corvallis is having a down year, but CV has yet to meet expectations as they were only up 10-0 on a down and out Dallas team last week at halftime. They have some very talented kids, and it will be interesting to see if they can put it together. (CV 31 CORV 13)
