Hockinson (Brush Prairie, Wa.) had a very good season, going 11-1 and making it into the state quarterfinals, and a big reason was a potent offense led by wide receiver Kedrick Johnson.

Now that the senior has finished up his prep football career, he’s turned his attention toward where he will play his college football and he recently grabbed an offer from Eastern Washington, his first.

“Eastern offered me a couple of weeks ago,” Johnson told Northwest Elite Index recently. “They had been keeping an eye on me all season and they said they had seen enough and liked what I could do and that I would be a good fit for their program.”

In addition to his offer from the Eagles, Johnson is also getting quite a bit of interest from Portland State and he feels they could be close to jumping into the mix as well.

“I’ve been talking to those coaches for a little while too and they like me,” Johnson said. “I have a visit scheduled for January 15th to Portland State and then my final visit is to Eastern Washington on the 29th. ”

As a senior, Johnson totaled 57 receptions for over 1,101 yards and 15 touchdowns while adding four more on kick and punt returns and three on defense.

“I like playing both offense and defense and both of those schools have said they could see me on either side of the ball,” Johnson noted. “I got All League First Team honors and I was the Offensive Player of the Year as well and I also received All-Region as a wide receiver as well.”

He was also named first team All-State at wide receiver by the Associated Press.

At 6’3″ and weighing in at 195 pounds, Johnson is a solidly built prospect with a lot of upside and his abilities when the ball is in the air are what set him apart. Because he plays for a smaller school, he appears to have gone overlooked by a lot of college coaches, but wherever he winds up, he should be able to find success with his athleticism and ball skills.

NEI will continue to keep track of Johnson over the next few weeks as he approaches Signing Day (February 3rd) and we will update news on him as it happens.
