One of the northwest’s top linebackers and overall athletes returning next season is Michael Digenova (6-2 215 Jr. LB) out of Camas. He is currently ranked as one of the top three junior backers in Washington and for good reason. The talented kid helped lead Camas to a state semi final run this past season, with the defense going on lock down mode for most of the year. The Papermakers D was lead by two time GSHL Player of the Year John Norcross, but anyone watching also saw the athletic junior all over the field.

Digenova is a 3.8 student and someone that has legit speed and instincts on the gridiron. As much as any team state wide the Camas D was impressive every Friday night, led by the 1st team all league linebacker that played with a no holds barred type mentality. Michael says, ” the season didn’t end how we wanted it to, but i’m proud of our guys and how we showed up each game”. Before the Skyline contest no team really got anything going all season against the Papermaker D, making it even more impressive with what Skyline and Max Browne were able to do.

Camas will return as the state’s #1 ranked team coming into 2013, with a host of kids that we have talked about on the regular leading the D. I for see this Camas squad being one of the top 50 teams in the country, and as good as the offense is the D is nasty.

Michael is a power forward on the basketball team showing off his overall athleticism and physicality. He’s definitely a football player playing basketball which is something he acknowledges. His toughness on the basketball floor is very apparent, as opponents can rest assured they won’t go unchecked if you try to take him to the hole.

Most of the points scored against the Camas defense was in mop up time after the Papermakers got up by a large margin. With Norcross gone you will see a lot more of Digenova which will be good for him on the recruiting front. This will be a big off season for Michael as he has an opportunity to put himself on the map with a host of different schools. We will look forward to seeing him and his teammates over the next few months at our Elite Events with the other top athletes from across the region.

As most people have figured out by now, we are big fans of this Camas program and the outstanding athletes they continue to produce.
