Oregon 6A/5A Top 10 Predictions with Analysis (9/25): By Jordan Johnson

Oregon Predictions

6A Top Ten

Reynolds (1-3) 7 @ #1 Central Catholic (4-0) 65

This will be over early, as the CC starters deserve a rest after playing a brutal non league schedule. Look for some of the younger talent to shine against the Raiders.

Mcminnville (3-1) 16 @ #2 Tigard (4-0) 54

The Tigers are just head and shoulders above everybody within the conference. You could see Manu Rasmussen score 2-3 first half TD’s, and Jett Even continue to exploit their passing attack.

Beaverton (3-1) 17 @ #3 Southridge (3-1) 42

The Skyhawks are healthy and playing like a state title contender. The Beavers have some quality younger athletes, but their non conference schedule is far from Metro League reality.

South Medford (1-3) 19 @ #4 Sheldon (2-2) 37

The Irish should bring their A game after being shocked down in Medford to North 21-17. Coach Singler will make sure the Panthers are ready, but I can’t remember Sheldon ever losing back to back games.

Sunset (4-0) 20 @ #5 Jesuit (2-2) 35

It will be tough for the Apollos to stop Joey Alfieri and Chase Morrison. Junior QB Willy Plug has played very well this season, but close wins over Aloha, Grant, and David Douglas make you wonder.

Lakeridge (3-1) 28 @ #6 Clackamas (4-0) 29

Flip a coin as the Pacers could very well knock off Clack. Im a big fan of the Cavs and their athletes, but this is going to be tough. Junior QB Eric Dungey is the real deal, doing work through the air and also rushing 31 times last week.

West Linn (2-2) 24 @ #7 Lake Oswego (1-3) 27

This game could go either way, but I’m not going to be the guy who bets against Steve Coury and the Lakers decade long conference winning streak. Hayden Coppedge has looked phenomenal and Louie Germain has 11 TDs in the last two games.

#9 Oregon City (4-0) 30 @ #8 Canby (2-2) 28

Such a tough game to call. Canby’s two losses were to elite teams in Camas and Tigard, and they get the edge with competition. That said OC has a lot of momentum going right now so I will give them the close win.

South Eugene (2-2) 14 @ #10 Roseburg (4-0) 41

Two of the better coaches in the state will go head to head, as Chris Miller has the Axemen much better and Thurman Bell is overachieving.

5A Top Ten

Liberty (3-1) 0 @ #1 Sherwood (4-0) 62

In case you didn’t know the Bowmen are dominant. Look for this to be over early as Keegan Lawrence and Mickey Shaefer are real.

#2 Silverton (4-0) 28 @ #3 West Albany (3-1) 21

One of the top games in Oregon this season. This will be a battle between the Silverton D and RB Jake Lacoste. Jr QB Cole Chandler and Sr RB Max Wilson have been phenomenal this season.

#5 Springfield (3-1) 21 @ #4 Ashland (4-0) 23

This game could go either way as Springfield has been dialed the last three weeks. The Grizzlies realize this would most likely give them the conference title with a win, so they will be ready.

#6 Marist (2-2) 40 @ Willamette (2-2) 7

You can expect Marist to be prepared every week after a couple tough losses to West Albany and Ashland. They should roll.

#7 Crescent Valley (2-2) 27 @ Dallas (3-1) 25

This should be one of the top games state wide as Dallas is a good football team. CV needs to come ready if they want to win this.

#8 Hermiston (3-1) 38 @ The Dalles (3-1) 14

TD has beaten three sub par teams, and Hermiston does not fit in that category.

Benson (0-4) 6 @ #9 Roosevelt (3-1) 54

The Roughriders have been playing good ball and you can expect them to cruise in this one.

#10 Wilsonville 24 (3-1) @ Mountain View (2-2) 22

Another very tough game to call as I love both of these coaching staffs. I expect Derek Sunkle to get back in his groove, but this could go either way.
